Tanger Med, un port de dernière génération

Entré en service en juillet 2007, le port Tanger Med répond à la volonté du Royaume du Maroc d’ériger sur la rive sud du Détroit de Gibraltar une plateforme portuaire, industrielle et logistique de premier plan, intégrée au réseau d’échanges mondiaux. D’une capacité de 3 millions de conteneurs, qui sera porté à 8 millions à l’horizon 2016, le port Tanger Med, conçu pour recevoir les dernières générations des navires porte conteneurs, est à la fois une plateforme destinée à l’activité mondiale de transbordement et une porte d’entrée sur le Maroc permettant d’accueillir les trafics liés aux activités d’import-export.

Bénéficiant d’une situation géographique exceptionnelle, au coeur du Détroit de Gibraltar, le port Tanger Med garantit un accès direct aux grandes lignes maritimes Est/Ouest avec « zero déviation » pour les navires. Son emplacement au point de rencontre entre Méditerranée et Atlantique lui confère en outre l’avantage de pouvoir capter les lignes Nord-Sud desservant l’Afrique et l’Amérique du Sud.

EADS Defence & Security to provide an integrated maritime security system for the new port in Tangier

EADS Defence & Security (DS) has been awarded a major contract by the Tanger Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA) of Morocco to provide an integrated maritime security system for the brand new port Tanger Med. Thanks to this state-of-the-art port security system, Tanger Med will reach the best levels of security to go far beyond the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code and the European Directive 65/2005.The deployment of the security system will start beginning of 2008 and will be finalised in 2011. Ideally located on the straits of Gibraltar, this port is an outstanding industrial achievement, and its activity will profoundly reshape the economical environment of northern Morocco, as well as western Mediterranean marine commercial patterns.Global Security, an integrated Line of Business of EADS Defence & Security, will provide a comprehensive solution to guarantee business continuity as well as efficiency.
